I haven't played any of the other Tales games yet (have 'em in my steam library, might emulate the others on my steamdeck), but I was extremely impressed with Arise.

I feel like zestiria has best reward system for playing on hardest difficulties and playing good ( grade usefull on NG )Īgain, i understand that you need to be into that, i myself playing it first time hated it, but second time i started to understand how to manipulate gear and grade and had alot of fun. It only kinda works on chaos, since monster level increase, but thats just another rewarding part about playing on hardest settings. I really liked that idea when you can manipulate which items you want to drop where, meaning you can farm monsters and locations you prefer. Best thing about Zestiria is that you can get endgame gear basically anywhere, get 3+ encounter with maxed keeper and you can drop endgame swords very early. I could've easily get infinite combo without NG+ and some other stuff on top of that, i had almost all keepers maxed without too much of a grind. This is where rewarding part comes in play, you level keepers fast because you good at combat and put those things ( forgot their name ) to get specific affixes on gear, with this strat stacking is very easy. I'd say you good just doing stacking to get 5-6 combo lenght and stack BG column and you beat every boss on chaos in basically few combos with 400+ grade. Like you basically only need very few things for powerful characters, alot of stuff like 100% revive, iron stances etc very optional. Honestly zestiria gear system can also be divided on basic and advanced, it just can be owherwhelming first time. The difference in combat with and without canceling is insane tho.

I mean its not that hard of mechanic, you just basically need to know about it, since it only has very vague description in manual which you can miss. True i guess, i started it on hard and without canceling game is basically unplayable. Well, you don't HAVE to do that in Vesperia to beat the game on normal, including the optional stuff. Like if you figure gear system there you'd get the most powerful tales character ever, even if you do its kinda grindy even with 200-700 grades per boss ( which leads to very fast keepers leveling ) If you liked this one, id go for Berseria, pretty decent, zestiria is good too.but has some questionable mechanics that some people would be into and others not.

I feel like they all good in their own regard, some are just harder, but feels rewarding when you getting better, at least me.Īlso vesperia has some weird rule about chaining artes, i already forgot what is it, but basically you cant combo certain artes after others, there is an item or smth to remove it, but its like super end game. If you like to do some crazy cross-character combos berseria prob the best, followed by this one. They all have different combat styles, some are very hard like vesperia/symphonia, some easier like zesteria/berseria, some reward grind, other doesnt care so much, idk, id say vesperia very good if you are into one main character, it has high entry level, since you need to play manual and canceling to do any decent combos.
